MRSA Skin: Does skin contact spread MRSA?

Skin contact is just one way that MRSA spreads. MRSA bacteria live on the skin and will usually not cause problems until they find a wound to infect. Spread may occur via a hand, a contaminated object and also via sexual contact. Frequent hand washing (after meals, toilet visits) and showering will help keep the infection at bay. Many will be transient or temporary carriers of MRSA at some time in their lives

Be aware that 35-50% of people carry the staph aureus (SA) part of MRSA. It can also be very destructive but is easier to treat. Good personal hygiene habits and general good health will help you shake off bacterial infections. MRSA skin infections are not a death sentence. Those who are hid hard by it are often very ill anyway , hence their weakened defences.
